Abstract
Abstract:

The concept of freedom has long existed in world literature and various languages, though it has been employed with varying shades of meaning—ranging from the closely related to the distinct. Consequently, it is essential to understand its boundaries and the associated imperatives and prohibitions; more importantly, one must grasp the normative perspective held by the Ahl al-Bayt (peace be upon them) regarding this concept. This study aims to explore the Islamic perspective—specifically that of the Ahl al-Bayt—to achieve a proper understanding of freedom and its limits. The analysis addresses the concept across three dimensions: Azadegi (noble-mindedness or behavioral freedom), individual freedom, and social freedom. While these concepts often operate based on material worldly interests, Islam emphasizes a divine path and ethical conduct, offering a divine model for each dimension that steers society away from tyranny and despotism while fostering true freedom.

Keywords: Freedom, Azadegi (noble-mindedness), individual freedom, social freedom, God-centeredness.
